Computer Programming

Computers do everything they are supposed to, based on a source code that dictates exactly what the computer is supposed to do. Without the source code the computer would basically be the equivalent of a hiker lost in the woods; meaning it would not know which direction to go. You can pretty much tell by now that the source code is pretty important, it also looks important, meaning that it can only be comprehended by trained computer programmers. Computer programmers can not only comprehend this code, but they can also write different programs using this code. Basically, without computer programmers around to program each computer, there simply would be no computers.

In the computers early years, it could not really do very many functions; it was essentially a big calculator. While that did not seem like it would take a lot of programming, we did not have the technology we have now, back then, so it was actually quite a feat. Modern day computers can now do so many different things which requires a variety of different programs to help function smoothly. These programs do just pop out of thin air instantaneously, they are the hard work and creation of different computer programmers. Each and every program has to be programmed to do its job; for example, a design program has to be programmed to allow for different shapes, objects, patterns and more, so that it can operate and do its exact intended purpose.

The source code is actually quite difficult to understand in general; it is written in “programmer’s language.” Qualified programmers actually had to go through extensive programming courses along with other courses at a college, university or technical school. Programming requires knowledge in many different subject fields such as formal logic, algorithms, application domain and many other different areas. Just taking a look at those names would make a person think that programming requires a lot of hard work and grueling college course; but in reality, if a person actually studies hard, does all the work and comprehends everything then becoming a programmer is actually not that difficult.

There are actually many different types of programmers out there; it is just that computer programmers are the ones heard about the most often. This is primarily because computers are incorporated into just about everything. Cell phones, gaming systems and other complicated devices all have incorporated technology into them, so actually a cell phone programmer can call himself partly a computer programmer because cell phones nowadays are basically just computers with phones built into them. Without programmers, we would be lost in a traditional, less advanced world and would be nowhere near the efficiency we are operating at now; so we owe programmers quite a bit of credit for putting the world where it is now.
