Everything a computer does is dictated by a special code known as the source code. The source code determines what the computer can do and what the computer cannot do. This code cannot be comprehended by just anybody; it can be read and comprehended by trained specialists known as programmers. Programmers can not only read this code, but they can also write the code, test it after it is written, debug it should any problems come up and maintain it. Without programmers, then there would probably be no computers because there would no individuals who could read and write the source code.

Everyone likes for their computers to certain things; you can even buy computers already outfitted with programs that you desire. The programmer’s job is to create these programs that are on the computer either by recreating a program already in existence or by coming up with a completely new program. The programmer will create the program to do specific purposes; for example, if a music making program is being written, then the program will have to deal with all aspects pertaining to making music such as different beats, a music composer/recorder, editing software and more.

The source code for computers is written it what is called a programmer’s language. For a programmer to understand this language, or for a person to become a programmer in general, he or she must obtain extensive knowledge in many different areas such as formal logic, different algorithms, knowledge and comprehension of the application domain and much, much more. The programmer obtained all this knowledge by attending a college, university or tech school in which he or she took classes to become a programmer; which is where he or she obtained all the necessary knowledge. Becoming a programmer is not easy in any way; it takes time, effort, patience, a lot knowledge retaining and determination. When all these are coupled together, then you have the makings of what could be a great programmer.

When most people think of programming, they think of computer programmers because they are types of programmers that are heard about most often. However, there actually quite a few different types of programmers responsible for making just about anything electronic operate efficiently. Programmers will always have a place in the work force because we live in a technologically advanced world where new technologies are being invented every day. These new technologies have to have a program installed on them that dictates what they do, and so that they do that function properly; this is where a programmer would come into the picture to write the program code in which each particular piece of technology will run.
