If you’ve had it with daily stress and a hectic lifestyle, it may be time to step back and see how you can rejuvenate yourself. Being constantly stressed and anxious is not good for the mind and body, and if you’re feeling extra exhausted, you should make time for yourself and forget about your worries and cares for a while. The good news is that you can easily do this with a special ‘pamper myself’ day – right in the comfort of your home. Here’s how to have a completely relaxing spa day at home.
Morning relaxation
When you open your eyes in the morning, don’t just get up straight away. Savor the morning light, stretch out, and when you’re ready, get up. If you have coffee in the morning, enjoy it and make it as leisurely as possible. Don’t be in a hurry – put on some soothing music or do some light morning exercises. If you’re the active outdoorsy type and like going for a run whenever you can, then by all means, do so. Breathe in the fresh air and listen to the sounds of nature around you.
Have a good brunch or snack, try foods you don’t normally get to eat – don’t just reach for that box of cereal. Go out to your neighbourhood bakery and get some freshly-baked bread. Try out that new restaurant you’ve always planned to visit. The point is to indulge yourself, but in a relaxed, laid-back manner.
Relaxing by yourself
If you’re planning on spending the day by yourself, it’s a good time to do what you like to do, whether it’s reading a good book, watching your favourite movies, or doing some hobbies. Do a grocery run so you can munch on special goodies while you’re relaxing – some good snacks would be strawberries, grapes, and other fruits, dark chocolate, nuts, even a small cake or pastry (or two, just don’t overdo it). Go for your tried-and-tested comfort food.
A spa day isn’t complete without pampering and a nice, long bath
Of course, if you’re determined to have a real spa day, you shouldn’t forget to pamper yourself. If you’ve been meaning to try out that at-home hand or foot mask, now’s the time to do it. Paint your nails – or better yet, just apply some press-on nails (there are lots of press-on nail collections to choose from) so you can have fantastic nails in minutes.
Bath time should be extra special as well – draw the bath, turn down the lights, light some aromatherapy candles, and don’t be shy about pouring in the bubbles. Have a glass of wine and a good book or magazine handy, and you’re in for a truly relaxing, rejuvenating soak. When you step out, dry yourself with the fluffiest bathrobe or towel you have. Enjoy!
