As the world is getting closer to open its borders again, have you planned where to go next? We’ve been mostly at home during the past two years and when we can travel again, do visit awesome countries that offer attractions to everyone. Singapore can be a great country to start.
This small and beautiful county has almost everything to please you crave; either it’s food, shopping, thrilling and adventurous spots, healing spots and of course educational, too. One of the must-visits in this county is Jurong Bird park; an aviary haven for any age. This reserve has more about 5000 birds from more than 400 bird species
You can buy Jurong Bird Park tickets on its official website or other online platform like Traveloka for discounted price. Plan your visit ahead to maximize most of your time here so you can explore all available zones in this 20 hectares reserve. To help you out, here are 5 favorite spots at Jurong Bird Park that you shouldn’t miss.
1. Penguin Coast
Yes, penguins are birds, too. They are categorized as aquatic flightless birds and you can find them at Jurong Bird Park. There are four penguin species that you can find here; the Humboldt, the King penguin, the Macaroni and the Rockhopper. They can be found inside a ship-shaped building that is fully aircon of course.
You can join the feeding session at Penguin Cost at 10.30 am and 3.30 pm. At this session, you can see how penguins eat and get to know better about this cute animal through their keepers.
2. Wings of Asia Aviary
This huge aviary is just a no brainer. You can see a collection of birds from Asia continent; some of them are kept in a wide enclosure, but many of them are free-ranging and roam around the aviary as they wish.
You can look out for threatened species, like Luzon bleeding-heart doves or Bali Mynah here. You can also spot ducks and colorful birds here.
3. Waterfall Aviary
This huge aviary occupies a large area and is home to lots of birds from different species. You can walk on the path along the stream from a 30-metre waterfall in this aviary. You can also join the bird feeding session at 2.30 pm that opens every day.
But if you come here on the weekends and public holidays, there will be one additional feeding time at 10.30 in this aviary. Enjoy the magical moment when the feather fiends flock in your hand or near you to enjoy the food you bring
4. High Flyers Show
Don’t miss this bird show that happens daily at 11 am and 3 pm. This show features Jurong Bird Park’s stars; from colorful parrots, majestic hornbills, pelicans and flamingos too! Arrive early to grab the best spot to see these hairy friends entertain the crowds with their talent.
5. Kings of the Skies Show
Another awesome bird show to catch here at the Jurong Bird Park; Kings of the Skies Show. Here you won’t see cute birds, but you’ll be able to see the raptors like eagles, hawks, vultures and also owls demonstrate how they hunt their prey.
You can catch this show daily at 10 am and 4 pm at the Hawk Arena. Allocate your time to catch this show. And if you are brave enough, you can volunteer to try your hand at falconry.
So don’t forget to add this reserve to your Singapore itinerary later and spend at least half day here. This bird park will be a fun and awesome place to visit with family and friends. Meanwhile, let’s stay healthy until we can travel to overseas again,
